SMART GROWTH IN CANADA

CANADIAN URBAN INSTITUTE

ASSOCIATION OF ONTARIO LAND ECONOMISTS ET. AL.

For the past three years we have organized joint seminars with the Canadian Urban Institute (CUI) and they have been very successful.

This year the CUI have embarked upon a series of seminars which deal with a very important and topical subject that should be of great interest to all our members.

The thinking behind SMART GROWTH is not new. The ideas that make up the Smart Growth agenda are familiar to us all:

To help define Smart Growth for Ontario and in the Larger Canadian context, The CUI is presenting this series of one-day seminars in cooperation with the Washington based Urban Land Institute. The conferences will be co-chaired by CUI President, the Hon. David Crombie, P.C. and Smith Lyons Partner, Bob S. Onyschuk, Q.C.

There are two remaining Seminars on this subject:

COMMENT: Your committee appreciates that this is higher than the cost of our seminars in the past. However we have noted that we have been cutting our seminars down considerably in terms of allotted time and number of speakers. (The last two seminars were only ½ day)

In view of the high caliber of the speakers that have been arranged for these two seminars and the importance of the topic, your committee feels that it was worth offering this opportunity to the membership.

Please review the PDF file for further information.

AIC MEMBERS: Will receive credits for the seminars.

For those AIC members attending on juNE 13, 2001 they will be allowed 7 aux. credits.
